Marketing and Social Media Lead
Reporting to:
Artistic Director, Silk Road Institute

Appointment term:
3 months part-time contract (8 hrs/week), with potential for extension

The Marketing and Social Media Lead is responsible for the development, management and effective delivery of communication and marketing strategies and campaigns by the Silk Road Institute, and building an audience through the organization’s various communication channels.
The Marketing and Social Media Lead will work closely with the Programs and Development Manager and Artistic Director in the conceptualization and realization of marketing and communications content that connects with and expands the Silk Road Institute’s audiences, so a keen knowledge and experience in delivering projects for Muslim communities and/or under-represented communities is an asset. They should have a clear vision and a passion to deliver innovative, original and creative content.
Duties:
The Marketing and Social Media Lead will be responsible for the following duties:
Development of a marketing plan to engage with audiences, donors, and other stakeholders to publicize Silk Road Institute’s programs and fundraising campaigns
Digital content planning and the creation and maintenance of engaging content for social media
Creating graphic design elements for our newsletter and social media
Managing and updating the website
Maintaining overall brand awareness to drive engagement and increase sign-up for the Silk Road Institute’s newsletter, social media channels, and events
Developing – through creation, commission, liaison with artists or other – written, audio, video and photographic content to be updated on a regular basis
Undertaking basic audio and video editing to facilitate brief trailers and other digital content as needed
Copywriting for all communications materials including email marketing, direct mailing and proposals and ensuring accuracy and clarity at all times
Managing and be available to troubleshoot the event launch ticketing and communication with registrants
Maintaining publicity contacts network, creation and dissemination of press releases
Requirements and Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for working with Muslim communities and working with diverse groups of artists.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Previous experience developing and delivering successful marketing and communication plans, and brand strategies.
Strong graphic design experience and experience developing engaging visual content
Strong knowledge of artists and trends within Canada’s Muslim communities and Canada’s under-represented communities.
Willingness to uphold and contribute to the Silk Road Institute vision and mandate.

SRI Sponsorship Volunteer
We are looking for a driven volunteer to join our growing sponsorship team. In this role you will partner with an amazing team to develop our sponsorship plan, build networks in industry, draw fundraising programs, and recruit sponsors
Responsibilities:
Researching potential sponsors
Writing funding proposals and sending these to potential sponsors
Creating marketing and promotional activities
Developing fundraising events
Maintaining records of sponsors
Organizing campaigns that will lead to donations
Training volunteers
Requirements:
Experience in corporate sponsorship for fundraising (preferred but not mandatory)
Creativity and persuasion skills
Detail-oriented
Good organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
